19 DAYS, 18 NIGHTS – GOMBE STREAM, KIGOMA, KATAVI, MBEYA, TUKUYU, KISOLANZA, IRINGA – ISIMILA STONE AGE, RUAHA, MIKUMI, MOROGORO & SELOUS

DAY 1: FLY TO KIGOMA & TRANSFER TO KIGOMA HILL TOP HOTEL

After breakfast, pick you up at the hotel – then take you to Dar es Salaam International Airport to catch your flight to Kigoma at 10:10 hrs, arriving at 15:20 hrs.

On your arrival at Kigoma Airport, you will be picked up by your ‘Tour Guide’ and transferred to a hotel – check-in, later have lunch and rest, dinner later and spend the night at Kigoma Hill Top Hotel (lunch & dinner included)

DAY 2: BOAT TRANSFER TO GOMBE STREAM NATIONAL PARK & CHIMPANZEE TREKKING

After breakfast, at least one (1) hour boat transfer to Gombe Stream National Park through the world’s longest and second deepest lake – Lake Tanganyika.

On arrival, check-in at the lodge – then go for trekking of chimpanzees with packed lunch boxes with a lead of a professional guide.  Back in the evening, dinner when you are ready and spend the night at Gombe Forest Lodge (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

Gombe Stream National Park: Is a fragile strip of chimpanzee habitat of the Africa’s last remaining wild chimpanzees. The most visible of Gombe’s other mammals are also primates. Trekking the chimps of the Gombe Stream is exceptionally a magical experience.

DAY 3: HALF DAY CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AT GOMBE STREAM NATIONAL PARK & SNORKELLING/BOAT SAFARI/BEACH

After breakfast at the lodge, a half day chimpanzee trekking with your packed lunch boxes at Gombe Stream National Park until afternoon. 

In between afternoon and evening, you’ll have a chance to experience various activities such as snorkeling, boat safari (On Request)

In the evening time, you might also have a chance to swim by the beaches of the lake (Lake Tanganyika). 

Stay the overnight at Gombe Forest Lodge (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 4: BOAT TRANSFER TO KIGOMA & STAY THE NIGHT AT KIGOMA HILL TOP HOTEL

After breakfast at the lodge, take a boat and transferred to Kigoma (a one hour boat drive), get a hot lunch on your arrival, then rest and have dinner later in the evening when you are ready and stay the overnight at Kigoma Hill Top Hotel (lunch & dinner included)

DAY 5: DEPART TO KATAVI NATIONAL PARK & OVERNIGHT AT KATAVI WILDLIFE CAMP

After breakfast, a 5 – 6 hours drive to Katavi National Park with your packed lunch boxes, passing through various towns and few stops on the way arriving in the late evening. On arrival, check-in and spend the night at Katavi Wildlife Camp (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 6 – 7: FULL DAY GAME DRIVES AT KATAVI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, go for a full day game drive across the enormous Katavi National Park with packed lunch boxes until sunset. Back in the late evening and spend the overnight at Katavi Wildlife Camp (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

Katavi National Park: Katavi’s most singular wildlife spectacle is provided by its hippos. Not only that but also an estimated 4,000 elephants might converge on the area, together with several herds of 1,000-plus buffalo while an abundance of giraffe, zebra, impala and reedbuck provide easy pickings for the numerous lion prides and spotted hyena clans whose territories converge on the floodplains

Day 8: DEPART TO TOWN OF MBEYA & OVERNIGHT AT UTENGULE COFFEE LODGE

After breakfast, a 6 – 7 hours drive to the Town of Mbeya with packed lunch boxes with fewer stops on the way, arriving in the early evening. 

At Utengule, there’s a huge coffee plantation – you might visit it if you’ll have the chance in the evening and also swim at the huge pool available at the lodge.

Dinner and stay the overnight at Utengule Coffee Lodge (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 9: DEPART TO TOWN OF TUKUYU & ACTIVITIES ON ARRIVAL

After breakfast, drive for 2 hours to a Town of Tukuyu – on arrival conduct some short tours including the Crater Tour (Ngozi Crater), a tour to the Bridge of God “Daraja la Mungu” and a visit to the plantations (Tukuyu Tea Plantation).

Back from the tour in the evening and spend the overnight at Landmark Hotel (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 10: DEPART TO KISOLANZA 

After breakfast, depart to Kisolanza ( a 5 – 6 hours drive). On arrival check-in and stay the night at Kisolanza Farm House (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 11: DEPART TO RUAHA NATIONAL PARK via IRINGA (with a Historical Visit at ‘Isimila Stone Age Site’)

After breakfast, drive for 4 – 5 hours to Ruaha National Park with packed lunch boxes arriving in the early evening.

On the way, stop for a historical visit at “Isimila Stone Age” Site – A Walk through The Canyons: It is well-known for its archaeological sites, some of these sites yielded very important fossils that enlighten us about the origin of mankind. 

On arrival at Ruaha National Park, get your hot dinner and spend the night at Ruaha Hill Top Lodge (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 12 – 13: FULL DAY GAME DRIVES AT RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, go for a full day game drive across the enormous Ruaha National Park with packed lunch boxes until sunset. Back in the late evening and stay the overnight at Ruaha Hill Top Lodge (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 14: DEPART TO MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK (with Little Social and Cultural Visits on the Way)

After breakfast, drive for 3 – 4 hours to Mikumi National Park with few stops for cultural visits on the way – A Visit to Neema Crafts Centre and have lunch at Neema Crafts Restaurant. 

NEEMA CFAFTS CENTRE: The Centre was founded in 2003 by the Diocese of Ruaha, to provide training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities through handicrafts in the Iringa region of Tanzania. It also aims to change negative attitudes towards people with disabilities in the local society.

Then later, pay a little local visit to “Iringa Local Market” – a market built by the Germans during their colonial rule era.

On arrival at Mikumi, check-in, get your hot dinner and stay the overnight at Vamos Hotel (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 15: HALF DAY GAME DRIVE AT MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK & DEPART TO MOROGORO

After breakfast, go for a half day game drive at Mikumi National Park, later depart to Morogoro with lunch on the way arriving Morogoro in the early evening. 

On arrival, get your hot dinner and stay the overnight at Mbuyuni Farm Retreat/Arc Hotel (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 16: DEPART TO SELOUS GAME RESERVE (with On-Route Game Drive) 

After breakfast, drive for about 5 hours to Selous with packed lunch boxes while passing in the middle of the enormous Selous Game Reserve while spotting various animals and birdlife arriving in the evening, rest at the camp while waiting for dinner – stay the overnight at Selous Mbega Camp/Selous Hippo Camp (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 17: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE AT SELOUS GAME RESERVE

Early breakfast at 07.00 and then drive to the Selous Game Reserve. Enjoy an all day game drive in a specially modified safari vehicle with a professional guide, in which you should see and learn much about a large number of animals, including all the great favorites – lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, impala – and all the other major species including the now rare African hunting dog. Great variety of bird species. Wonderful scenery, with varied topography: wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with long views to far-off mountains.

Packed lunch and time to rest: Your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink – a place with a clear view all round so that no predator can creep up unseen! Back to the camp by 6.30 pm for sunset and hot dinner when you’re ready at Selous Mbega Camp/Selous Hippo Camp (breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

DAY 18: A MORNING WALKING SAFARI & AN EVENING BOAT DRIVE AT SELOUS GAME RESERVE

An early morning walking safari with a Bushman across the reserve’s environment to learn various histories (including 

traditional trees used for medical treatments, various animals footprints and other small animals which you cannot see during the game drive). Back to the camp for breakfast. 

After breakfast, rest for sometime until afternoon and get your hot lunch at the camp. Later in the evening, go for an evening boat safari through the Rufiji River. Here you can experience the aquatic life mostly crocodiles and hippos, also you can see some animals come for drinking, also you can see uncountable number of bird species since the reserve has over 440 known species of birds while enjoying an amazing reserve’s sunset. Back in the late evening for dinner and stay the night at Selous Mbega Camp/Selous Hippo Camp (breakfast, lunch & dinner included) 

DAY 19: DEPART TO DAR ES SALAAM

After breakfast, a 5 hours drive to Dar es Salaam with lunch on the way arriving in the early evening; take you back to the hotel/catch a flight back home (breakfast & lunch included)
